St. Croix activities conference confronts Ole leaders with problems of '60 decade
"Crux at Croix—St. Olaf in the Sixties" is the theme of this year's student activities confernece to be held May 8, 9, and 10 at Camp St. Croix near Hudson, Wis., according to Connie Swenberg, general chairman of the event.
The group of 18 faculty members, 82 students, and a member of the board of regents plans to leave for the camp from Mohn hall at 3:30, May 8.
Dr. Wilkens of the speech department will give the keynote address at the opening night's banquet.
The two main topics of the Saturday morning session will be discussions on the Commons building and on the cooperation among Midwest conference schools. Dr. Granskou will deliver the conference address.
A symposium will be held Saturday afternoon on the general theme of "the extra-curricular and the academic." Dr. Narum and Krestie Lee will handle the academic side of the discussion, while Dr. Jorstad and Buzz Berg will head the extra-curricular section. Following this a general discussion will be held, at which time specific proposals and courses of action will be put forth.
An open session will be held Saturday evening at 8:00 for the purpose of discussing and deciding on these specific courses of action to be adopted. The student-faculty variety show, under the direction of Dr. Rossing and Morrie Myhre, will close Saturday's activities.
The conference will come to a close Sunday noon, with Dr. Shaw of the religion department delivering the sermon at morning church services.
In preparation for the weekend an orientation meeting for all those attending will be held April 27, 5:30 p.m. in Holland 501.
